FAQSINCENTIVES IN OTHER STATES CLICK HERE WHO IS SHOOT-IN-MINNESOTA ? Shoot In Minnesota (SIM) is a grassroots membership organization that was founded in 2005 to help improve the moving image industry in Minnesota. SIM is chartered as a not-for-profit organization and is recognized by the IRS as a 501(C)6 business league. SIM was instrumental in helping the Minnesota Film and Television Board obtain a one-time appropriation of $1.7 million Snowbate dollars in 2006.
WHAT IS SHOOT-IN-MINNESOTA'S MISSION STATEMENT? SIM's mission is to support the moving image industry in Minnesota by lobbying for legislated incentives. We provide a unified voice to the Minnesota Legislature and Governor as the trade association representing our industry. SIM's legislative agenda for 2007 is:
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP? There are two principal benefits of membership: 1) public recognition of your commitment to the industry; and, 2) participation in the direction of SIM and its impact on the industry. Members who join by May 20 th hwill be recognized in the 2007 Minnesota Production Guide produced by the Minnesota Film and TV Board. Your membership and support is vital to the future of our industry.
WHERE DOES SHOOT-IN-MINNESOTA SPEND ITS MONEY? The largest line item in the budget is the cost of hiring a professional lobbyist. The balance of the budget is spent on administrative expenses including bulk email and website maintenance. SIM has an all-volunteer staff.
WHO CONTROLS SHOOT-IN-MINNESOTA? SIM is a not-for-profit organization, and therefore its stakeholders are its members, supporters and volunteers. SIM operates pursuant to its bylaws. It has a Board of Directors who are elected by the members of the organization. The board appoints the Executive Director. The board and the Executive Director serve as volunteers. There are no employees. SIM has financial controls in place to ensure proper checks and balances. Annual financial reports are available to members.
HOW CAN I JOIN SHOOT-IN-MINNESOTA? Voting Membership for 2007 is set at $100 for individual members and $500 for corporate members . Any financial support is welcome and appreciated . Individual donors who give $50 (or more) and businesses that give $100 (or more) will be recognized as Supporters in the 2007 Minnesota Production Guide You will also receive a SIM T-shirt. WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES MY MEMBERSHIP MAKE? Our success at the capitol depends on two things: having a professional lobbyist representing our interests, and having an involved community. Your membership provides a strong message of participation to both points.
